How do I set up notifications about changes in the rate of return?

Investors can set limits on their investment accounts to notify them of either a falling or rising level of return on the corresponding PAMM account. When the limit set by the investor is reached, a notification will be sent to them either by email or SMS. This is an information only service. No transactions will be performed automatically on an account when a limit is reached.

To set up this feature, you need to:

  • Log in to myAlpari;
  • Select "in PAMM accounts" under the "My investments" section in the drop-down menu;
  • Click on the appropriate investment account number.
  • Select the "Details" tab in the investment account's window and scroll down to "Level of Return Notification Settings";
  • Select the required return level and choose the method by which you'd like to be notified when this level is reached. This can be done either by email or SMS;
  • Click "Set notification".

The investor can set a maximum of 10 limits on one PAMM Account, of which 5 may be lower than the current rate of return and 5 higher.

Example, if an investor sets a limit at "100.00", a notification will be sent when the account reaches "99.99".

In order to calculate the level of return which, upon being reached, you'd like to receive a notification, you'll need to use the following formula:

Return level = Current share price × The ratio of your desired return to the current return (expressed as a unit fraction) - 100

You can work out the current share price by adding 100 to the PAMM account's current level of return in percentage terms. By the same logic, you can work out the account's current level of return by subtracting 100 from the current share price.

For example, let's say that you want to receive a notification when the return level of you PAMM account drops by 20% (from its current level of 90%). In this case, you need to make the following calculation.

Return level = (90+100) × 0.8 - 100 = 52%

As such, in this case, you would enter the value "52" into this field.
